Rubik's Cube! (Part 1)

Something you may not know about me is that i really like the Rubik's Cube, I picked it up about a year ago and couldn't put it down since.  For a lot of people, its almost impossible to solve without it unless you simply take it apart and put it back together (Which takes away most of the fun). So today i'm going to show you how to solve it!  Just keep in mind it takes a bit of memorizing.

_______________________________________________________________________________

To solve the Rubik's Cube you're going to need to learn the words i'll be using to specify different turns and such.

There are 6 important letters you must know the meaning of, these letters will represent what part you need to turn, and in which direction.  The letters are R(ight), L(eft), U(p), D(own), F(ront), B(ack). Since a picture means a thousand words, i used my sweet MS paint skills to create one:

This may look like a 5 year old drew this, but yes it was indeed me.

Now, the side that labelled F (for front) is always facing you when you do an algorithm. There is no specific side that is front, its just whats facing you. and of course R and L mean left and right, U and D mean up and down, B means back.

You may be wondering how turning works, well, whenever i say one of the six letters, you will turn whatever side the letter corresponds too.  An extremely important thing to remember is that you turn it clockwise, and when the letter is followed by an I or an apostrophe, turn it counter clockwise.

For your final exam i will have you perform the following algorithm on a Rubik's Cube, simply do R, U, R' if you did it right you will have turned the right side clockwise once, the top side clockwise once, and the right side counter clockwise once.

That's the end of this tutorial, if you want to see more of this, or have a suggestion, please comment and tell me.
